Pepulux

Software Development Company Sri Lanka

A product studio in Sri Lanka that runs four of its own products.

Pepulux builds and operates software from Sri Lanka. Not a body shop billing by the hour — a studio with products of its own in the market, which is a different proposition and a different standard of work.

Software development in Sri Lanka, with skin in the game

Most software work sold out of Sri Lanka is capacity: developers, by the month, building to someone else’s specification. That can be useful, but it puts all the judgement on the buyer.

We sell the judgement too. We run OmKaarya and DiamondOar ourselves, so when we tell you a decision will cost you later, it is because it cost us.

Built for how Sri Lanka actually trades

Rupees, cheques, a financial year that starts in April, VAT applied at the point of sale, and counters that work in Tamil and English. Our products handle these because our customers needed them to, not because a requirements document mentioned them.

  • Sri Lankan VAT and tax treatment in billing
  • Tamil and English interfaces as standard
  • Local payment habits, including cheques
  • Gold-rate pricing for the jewellery trade

Working with teams abroad

Sri Lanka is +5:30, which gives a working overlap with Europe in our afternoon and with North America in our evening. We schedule around the other party rather than asking them to take calls at midnight, and we write things down so progress does not depend on being in the same hour.

Where exactly are you based?

Jaffna, in northern Sri Lanka, with a presence in Quebec, Canada.

Do you work with companies outside Sri Lanka?

Yes — most of our client work is for teams abroad, and our own products are used both locally and beyond.
